Nice quality pre-Civil War newspaper with toning from ink and some along edges. A few minor tears in margins but still securely together. ; No. 7; B&W Illustrations; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 4 pages; This issue is of special interest because of a story about the arrest of Moravian Missionaries in the Cherokee country of Tennessee and Georgia. One of these missionaries was Samuel Worcestor whose case vs. The State of Georgia went to the Supreme Court, where the Court found in Worcestor's favor, and seemingly recognized the sovereignty of the Cherokee Nation. Andrew Jackson supposedly remarked, "Justice Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it. " Whatever the truth, the Cherokees wound up on the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma. This newspaper thus contains an important bit of American history. Bookseller Inventory #
