A classic account of life on the Isles of Shoals, recalling both the early history of settlements and settlers, as well as the social life that grew on the islands during the mid 19th century. Celia Thaxter was a 19th century poet and author who spent much of her life on the Isles of Shoals (off the New Hampshire and Maine Coast), fostering a small community of artists and writers who would visit the isles in summer. GOOD condition. Minor general fading, with heavy darkening to the spine. Minor scuffing, soiling and edgewear. Interior solid.
