About this Item

Stated first printing. Book is unusually tight and square for such a large book, there is a very slight spine slant, but nothing to detract. There is a bit of discoloration at the board edges, but not into the board faces. The boards are rough weave very light brown color cloth, with a darker brown cloth spine. The front board has the initials A W in the darker brown. There is an inscription under the Wyeth on the title page, "To Clara from m. 1968" all in very small cursive, about 1/8th of an inch high. The "m." is not capitalized. The previous owner told me Meryman wrote it, but I have no proof of that. A bit of history about Wyeth and Meryman.according to M. they were close, and W. thought M. looked like a young Boris Parternak. M. was often invited to W. social functions, and once at a W. family Halloween party, W. introduced M. as Pasternak.unintended consequence.W.'s mother brought out a Pasternak book from her husband's library and asked M. to sign it, which he did as Pasternak, with W. looking on with a smile on his face. There are 168 color illustrations, all unmarked, a total of 174 pages. The jacket has a couple very short closed tears that are hard to find, and there is a bit of wear on the edge of the front jacket flap and a bit of discoloration on the edge of the rear jacket flap. The jacket front flap has the price $55.00 at the top and $75.00 at the bottom. The jacket is now in a Brodart protective plastic sleeve. We ship in cardboard boxes, and guarantee satisfaction. Postage on this book will be $8.00 which inludes insurance. Bookseller Inventory # 22172
