Side folding tabloid format. 64 pp. A later issue of this pioneering underground newspaper, known as the Freep. Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with a lengthy piece/interview with Eldridge Cleaver and Timothy Leary, regarding the Black Panther Party in Algeria placing Timothy Leary under house arrest after his fleeing the US, most of this a transcription of a tape sent by Eldridge Cleaver; an article on a rally of militant Chicanos protesting in LA that resulted in police violence; underground comix by Gilbert Shelton and others; an analysis of Marxism and urban guerrilla warfare; an article by the Mad Funk Collective of Tucson on the rioting of streetpeople in that city; a piece by Kathryn Paulsen on magic powers and witchcraft, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate general browning. Paper slightly brittle. Minor wrinkling along the extremities. Horizontal fold crease present. Address label present. Seller Inventory # 015076
