Purchased on May 28, 1958 in Johannesburg; has bookseller's sticker on Front pastedown. Book Condition: VG+; sunburn to top of spine, shelf wear to bottom of spine, bottom tips are bent. DJ: Good; intact but with tape repair to spine and closed tears on front and at spine. In Brodart Mylar. Green boards with bright gold lettering on spine and T & H seal on front board in gold. 230 pp. Since Angkor's discovery over 100 years ago, the majesty of its architecture, the silent grandeur of it sculpture, and the mysteries of its purpose have been slowly revealed to the West. This is the first time in simple text and photographs the Khmer art and social organization have been shown. The magnificent illustrations evoke the mysterious and passionate beauty of the stones of Angkor and reveal for the reader a pattern of life long since engulfed by the jungles of Cambodia.
