By the Old Inquirer. Bradford [England]: Printed for the Author, And Sold by Longman, 1816. 8 pp. Octavo (7-3/4" x 5"). Disbound, light soiling and edgewear, light spotting in a few places. Early annotation to title page identifying the author, internally clean. $250. * Only edition. A consideration of the economic effects of legislation prohibiting the export of wool, and a response to the needs of the British military during the Napoleonic Wars. Atkinson believes it would lead to an outflow of capital and a shortage of currency in Great Britain. The act was repealed without the repercussions he feared. However, The U.S. Congress enacted a protective tariff to discourage the importation of English wool. OCLC locates 4 copies, 2 in North America (Harvard, University of Chicago).
