Description:

Octavo. viii, 85pp. Original gray wraps with green lettering on cover with blue cloth wrap around chemise, housed in a black half leather slipcase with gilt lettering on spine; raised bands. An edition of 750 copies of this book where printed. The authors, represented by the last letters in the name of each, were: Leopold Charles Maurice Stennett Amery, Francis Wrigley Hirst, and Henry Alford Antony Cruso. Mason # 685. ". as to the motive of this production we only reply that as far as we have any, it is an honest dislike for 'Dorian Gray,' 'Salome,' the 'Yellow Book,' and the whole of the erotic, lack-a-daisical, opium-cigarette literature of the day. Out attack, however, is one on principles and not on persons. We confess straightway that our Oscar Wilde is mainly a creation of our own fancy." (Extract from preface). Block uncut at foredge and bottom. Wraps with light wear along edges, one inch closed teat at head of spine, small closed tear at tail and rubbed. Leather of slipcase lightly stained on front with white paint and small chips at spine. Slipcase in overall good, chemise in near fine, wraps in good-, and interior in very good condition.
