Title: Artemus Ward on His Visit to Abe Lincoln.
Publisher: The Poor Richard Press, Chicago
Publication Date: 1939
Foreword by Theodore S. Charrney and Ralph G. Newman. 16mo. Stiff red wrapper tied with green ribbon. (12pp). Frontispiece. Near fine. Signature of Newman (founder of the Home of Books, later the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop) tipped to front flyleaf. According to Monaghan 200 copies of this Christmas keepsake were printed by Norman Forgue at his Poor Richard Press in Chicago and a 400-copy edition was published by The Home of Books (Newman's bookshop before founding the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop) -- though neither imprint of the book bears a limitation statement and he fails to note where he got this information. This dialect sketch first appeared in "Vanity Fair" on December 8, 1860. Very uncommon. MONAGHAN 3664 variant. Bookseller Inventory # 22112
