Publisher: c. 1920
Publication Date: 1920
Book Condition: Very Good+
A "Rowney & Co. Fine Quality Sketch Book," paper-covered boards, cloth backstrip; small oblong 8vo (7-by-5 inches); contains 19 pen and ink drawings, as well as several later pencil sketches by a different hand. Boards worn; a few leaves starting; just a little dusty overall. One image chipped at top corner, but not infringing on the subject of the drawing (a man and a woman on horseback, the woman lighting the man's cigarette). A impressive collection of professional quality pen and ink drawings, possibly advertisements or newspaper illustrations, a number of them relating to Greys Cigarettes, Kensitas Virginia Cigarettes, toothpaste, and Scott Motorcycle Company. Other drawings depict a WWI tank, a caricature of a railway worker on strike, two women in a parlor room, a child at play, and character studies. The pencil drawings offer landscapes and a few character studies. Bookseller Inventory # D5262
