First Edition. embossed purple cloth covered boards, is considerably worn, especially on the top and bottom of the spine, gilt lettering on spine barely readable, inside is tight, inside hinges sound, dark brown end papers, no marks or writing inside. 208 pages, a first hand account of one of the greatest train disasters up till that time. a bridge over the Ashtabula River near Ashtabula, Ohio gave way as a passenger train was crossing dropping it into a ravine below, about 100 persons were killed in the wreck and fire that followed, among those killed were Mr. and Mrs. P.P.
