This is an original typescript of an assessment on the refereeing performance of one of the best ever referees in the English game of soccer Mr. Clive Thomas. The assessment was undertaken by an English Football League observer at the First Division league game between Southampton and Liverpool during the 1972/73 season. The assessment considers Mr. Thomas's prformance under a number of headings including Application of Laws and control; Positioning and fitness; Advantage; Stoppages and signals; Co-operation with Linesmen; General remarks and summary.He is given marks by the obeserver in each area for his performance. 4pp in all. A special record of an assessment of the performance of a referee who was very highly regarded at International, European & National level. Probably the equivalent of Collina today.
