Astoria is the account by Washington Irving (1783-1859) of John Jacob Astor's attempts to expand the fur trade beyond the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific coast, based on the records of the explorers who made the journeys. This copy is in good condition. It is quarter leather bound, and there is a good deal of wear to the leather on the front and back covers and some minor wear and staining to the fabric. The front fly leaf has become detached by is still present.   There is cracking to the front hinge and some slight cracking to the back hinge.  Otherwise the book remains tightly bound.
