About this title

Synopsis:

From psychologist Dr. Lauren Gerber comes Autism and You, the first in the new Dr. Lauren Library series. Illustrated by Norm Bendell, this unique introduction to autism includes educational material for both kids and adults. In the book's first part, young readers meet Billy, a boy with autism, as he shares his experiences, feelings, and plans for the future. The second part features a comprehensive collection of resources for parents, teachers, and other adults. Throughout, Dr. Lauren's message is the same: understanding and acceptance for all, no matter their differences.

About the Author:

Lauren Gerber, MsEd, PsyD, is one of the country's leading psychologists specializing in child and family psychology. She is a doctoral graduate, with honors, from Pace University, and she currently teaches at Lynn University. Her vast experience with special needs children led to her becoming Director of Clinical Services at the Slomin Family Center for Autism and Related Disabilities in Delray Beach, FL. With two decades in practice and work in both the public and private school systems, Dr. Gerber has offices in Illinois and Florida. She is the author/co-author of two previous books devoted to childhood psychological health, Kitchen Table Therapy and Does God Have an Email Address?, both illustrated by Norman Bendell.
