About this Item
"This charming little promotional leaflet does much to encourage travel and recreation in Long Beach, California. Text in the corner summarizes the desirable location during the late 1920s: "Facing south on a beautiful bay of the mild semi-tropical Pacific, sheltered by nature from winds, storms, and cold fogs, and blessed with an evenly tempered climate twelve months in the year, Long Beach is one of California's most delightful cities. You must not miss it. The Beach - seven miles of well-nigh perfect strand, is the chief attraction, luring hundreds of thousands annually from less favored parts of the globe." The primary image presents a simple automobile map of Southern California, while an adjacent inset shows the streets of downtown Long Beach. Several advertisements highlight local accommodations, while a second inset map on the verso shows an interesting highway map of California. Published in Los Angeles by the Miniad Company in the late 1920s. One of numerous issues covering various areas across California that were 'published quarterly for the convenience of the traveling public.' Despite the claim found on the front panel, the maps are surprisingly scarce on the market." Sheet Width (in) 11.75 Sheet Height (in) 9 Condition Description Minor to moderate wear along former fold lines, including small pinholes at fold intersections and tiny tears around the outer edges of the sheet.
