Prime" in pencil of a member of the Prime family (presumably the author's son John Scott Prime) on the front free endpaper and again in ink on the second blank. The memoirs of Daniel Prime, whose family settled in Rowley, Massachusetts in the 17th century. Daniel was raised in and around Ipswich and his early memoirs are of that place as well as Salen and New Rowley (alter Georgetown). He recounts his school days, early days in business (in which he achieved indifferent success), his military service in the local cavalry during the War of 1812 and rose to the rank of captain by 1821. Among the highlights he recalls wer being part of the escort for President James Monroe and General Lafayette dutring their visits to the area.
