Orig. printed wrappers, housed in custom black morocco clamshell box. Head of spine tape-repaired, spine lightly sunned, tiny spot on front wrapper, else very good or better. Dornbusch I, NH-47, II, 1809. Nevins II, p.158. Rare in the trade. We can find no records of auction sales. Musgrove joined the 1st Infantry Federal troops with a promotion, after discharge from the 12th New Hampshire. Musgrove devotes almost all of his text to his military career, beginning with his schoolboy excitement as the war began to brew. He fought at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and on the western frontier. After the war, he stayed in the army in Kansas and writes about fighting Indians. Bookseller Inventory # 69427
