Book Condition: Collectible-Fine

Autograph letter, front and back, signed (7 x 9 inch) in ink with letterhead 'The Studios, Chelsea Bridge Road, S.W.'. England, c.1890s. Charles Lowes (1843-1911) was an English sculptor who exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1872 through 1908. In his college days he was also an distinguished athlete (oarsman, runner, cyclist). The letter is addressed to Walter Rowlands (1855- ), an active author and editor during the period of 1880s-1920s in Boston and did a "Master Series" on artists. In the letter Lowes mentions that he is sending 2 photos of models of sculptures he is working on and suggests that the title 'Iron Age' is to describe the group of sculptures. Also, he asks Rowlands to destroy one of the previous photos sent. Letter is in fine condition. Bookseller Inventory # 9604
