Two pages (4 1/2 x 7 inch) with manuscript page from Warner's writings in his hand (6 x 9 inch). Charles Dudley Warner (1829-1900) was an American newspaper and magazine editor and essayist. He collaborated with Mark Twain to write "The Gilded Age" (1873). In this letter to a Mr. Abbott, Warner writes that though "I have not the least idea I was born to be presiding officer", he will agree to sit on a committee of the Psi Upsilon Fraternity. He adds the proviso that he may not be in the area when the committee meets. The subject of the manuscript page ("Pg. 9") is the Egyptian Civilization of the III Dynasty. Very good clean copies.
