About the Book

We're sorry; this specific copy is no longer available. Here are our closest matches for Autograph Letter Signed to ?Paul.".

Description:

Wilson congratulates Paul on his ?Galsworthy windfall.? He goes on to write, ?Twenty five years ago I paid $25 for Walt Whitman?s 1st Leaves of Grass ? & wrote on the flyleaf after visiting him in Camden, the estimate he gave me of Poe. It is in beautiful condition. You know what that copy in the Kern sale brought, don?t you? Mine, I think, is ?a more valuable item.'? He is sending Paul a copy of his John Wilkes Booth book (i.e., John Wilkes Booth; fact and fiction of Lincoln's assassination, Boston & New York: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1929). Wilson was a native of Philadelphia, a noted actor, and a part-time resident in Clearwater; he comments here from Florida that "California is too far away. Ugh!" Provenance: Ex?Allyn K. Ford Collection, Minnesota Historical Society, recently deaccessioned. 8vo (27 cm; 10.5"), 2 pp. Written in a clear hand. Very good. Bookseller Inventory #
