Autograph album page 7" by 4" dated Dec 1st (18)88 inscribed in ink "Take my advice young man and / (followed by a musical quotation that reanslates to "B natural but B sharp/ P.S. Gilmore". Some soiling, particularly about the edges which are a bit ragged and rounded. The reverse bears two other autograph inscriptions, one from Estrella Sylvia with her notation "America's only premiere, Dec 5, 188, Urbana, Il." (she was an operatic singer who appeared at the People's Theatre while Gilmore was a manager there); an additional holograph poem signed by one Chas L. Adams. P.S. Irish-born Patrick S. Gilmore was a musician, composer band leader and musical impresario. He most famously wrote the Civil War song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again" while serving as Grand Master of the Union Army bands sometime in 1863. Bookseller Inventory # E15625
