Les Aventures de Telemaque par Fenelon Avec Son Eloge par La Harpe, St. Francis De Sales, Paris, Furne, Jouvet, 1875, 415 pages, illustrated frontispiece and engravings, cloth, 8vo. In good condition, finely bound. Spine has some wear on top and bottom. Raised bands on spine feature beautiful gilt filigree work. Marbled end pages. Engraving protectors are all intact. Unmarked and clean. Nice! Please see photos. St. Francis De Sales was a French Roman Catholic Archbishop, theologian, poet and writer. Our book is his most notable work. This book enraged Pope Innocent XII and Louis XIV for it appeared to question the regime s very foundations. Thus, even after Fenelon abjured his quietest views, the king refused to revoke his order forbidding Fenelon from leaving his archdiocese. COLR1875ADEA.
