About this Item

Inscribed in Raphael Lemkin's hand on the half-title page " To Professor and Mrs. Robert J. Cole Devotedly The author Washington, Dec. 3- 1944". The first time I held this volume and read the inscription I nearly cried. Despite Lemkin's dogged perseverance in the creation, passing, and ratifications of the Genocide Convention, his overwhelming personal humility is less commonly known. This volume must have been among the first he signed; Axis Rule was released on Nov. 15, 1944. Guaranteed authentic- We've analyzed it comparatively with another signed volume in our inventory, and there is no doubt it is Lemkin's penmanship. This was confirmed by a Lemkin scholar who contacted us. This volume appears to be unread in Very Good condition with tight binding and clean unmarked pages and square edges. Red cloth boards have general shelf wear, darkening, and scuffing. Gold lettering on spine fully intact. An important artifact of human civilization. Bookseller Inventory # 000318
