About this Item

Pulitzer Prize winning author and poet's sixth book of fiction, the story of Amantha Starr in the years before and following the Civil War who goes from a high standing Kentucky girl to one of her bankrupt father's slaves. She learns that her mother was one of her father's slaves and thus begins a series of bizarre and dramatic adventures. A much nicer copy than normally seen. The book is tightly bound, without names or markings, a stated first printing. The DJ likewise has held up well, not price clipped with some light edgewear except at the spine ends which are worn to the point of just starting to chip and two light stains near the folds of the jacket. Looks bright in a mylar cover. Bookseller Inventory # 002256
