Israel]: 1963. Letter to W. Colson Leigh Bureau Lecture Company dated Sept. 7, 1963. Written in English with blue ball point pen. Ben-Gurion explains that at this time "he is engaged in writing a book and will have to stay in his kibbutz Sde Boker." Original envelope. Rust from paper clip on top corner, stamp of when received dated July 15, else very good. David Ben-Gurion (1886-1973) was most likely working on his 11 volume history of Israel's early years. He was head of the World Zionist Organization in 1946. He largely led the struggle for an independent Jewish state in Palestine. On May 14, 1948, he formally proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel, and was the first to sign the Israeli Declaration of Independence, which he had helped to write. He is known as Israel's founding father. HBS 67045. $1,000.
