Description:

Full title: BIBLIA HEBRAICA. SECUNDUM EDITIONES IOS. ATHIAE, IOANNIS LEUSDEN, IO. SIMONIS ALIORUMQUE INPRIMIS EVERARDI VAN DER HOOGHT RECENSUIT SECTIONUM PROPHETICARUM RECENSUM ET EXPLICATIONEM CLAVEMQUE MASORETHICAM ET RABBINICAM ADDIDIT AUGUSTUS HAHN. Reprint of Tauchnitz's "Editio Stereotypa" (Stereotype Edition) of 1831 or as stated upon title page "Editio stereotypa C. Tauchnitii quartum recognita et emendata." xxii, 1392, [23] pages (collation is, of course, in the Jewish style which is the reverse of the Anglo printing tradition, i.e. rather than being front to rear it is rear to front). Hardcover: H 21.25cm x L 13.5cm. Black leather boards quite scuffed and edge-worn, rear board (i.e. Anglo front board) detached with front board tenuously attached with splitting at hinge ends; spine leather heavily scuffed and abraded with uneven 1.5cm-2cm chipping at ends, spine's gilt lettering almost entirely flaked off. Interior leaves still firmly bound. Past owner's English pencil notations on front free endpaper and front flyleaf. No other pencil markings readily apparent upon a quick perusal. Mild to moderate foxing on leaves throughout. A poor copy per aforementioned faults to boards but still serviceable and could be simply recased. This 1867 edition of BIBLIA HEBRAICA is credited to August Hahn (1792-1863) and Everardus van der Hooght (c. 1642-1716) but OCLC also cites Joseph Athias (c. 1635-1700), Johannes Leusden (1624-1699), and Johann Simonis (1698-1768) presumably for their contributions to earlier editions which obviously carried through to this printing as well. Please note that this thick book has an approximate shipping weight of 3.5 pounds and will require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail. Bookseller Inventory #
