Complete in 2 volumes, contemporary half burgundy morocco and boards, octavo, xxx, (6), 436; (6), (439)-1090 pp. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Frontispiece and 11 full-page engravings in first volume, frontispiece and 28 engravings and facsimiles in second volume. Both volumes with many engravings in the text. Subscriber list in first volume. Tissue guards present for all full-page and text engravings. Front board of first volume lightly spotted, minor scuffing to spines and corners, some foxing, pages 365-369 bound out of order, else a very good and very handsome set. Armorial bookpate of William Horatio Crawford, Lakeland, Cork, to front pastedowns. "To Dr. Dibdin, more than to any other individual, is to be ascribed the spirit of Bibliomania which raged with such violence in England from about 1812 to 1824." (Allibone's). We had our open bookshop in the town of Sonoma for a total of 17 years, including 9 years at our East Napa St. location, however, as of April 13, 2013 we have closed our doors. Our business is now conducted online, by appointment, and at the approximately 8 antiquarian bookfairs at which we exhibit annually. Chanticleer Books is a sole-proprietorship owned and operated by Steve Blackmer, a full-time bookseller since 1985 and member of the Antiquarian Booksellers¿ Association of America (ABAA) since 1998.

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. US orders are shipped BY Priority Mail, Media Mail, OR UPS ($5-$12 on most single title orders).
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: Foreign orders are shipped at cost. International surface mail is not offered by the US Postal Service; all orders are shipped by air. We utilize the $30.00 Priority Mail International flat-rate mailer (4 lbs maximum weight) when we can adequately protect the book within. Oversize books will in most cases cost a minimum of $50.00 to ship overseas. The ABE default shipping rates are based on orders for 1 book at a maximum weight of 2.2 pounds. In many cases (large books, sets, insurance) this does not reflect the actual shipping cost. We will request additional shipping compensation through the Abebooks system when necessary.
