5 3/4 x 9 in. viii, 186 pgs. Black buckram with printed paper label on spine. Facsimile illus of original MS, frontis etc. Has tipped-in Dust jacket tipped in at rear and folded, as issued, with also a spare (mint cond) paper spine label bound into the preceeding rfep. This is a limited edition of 350 copies of this illustrated copy. Condition of book is VERY GOOD+ ; very slight wear to corners and ends of spine, cloth very clean, spine slightly faded, old paper label faded and rubbed. Binding is tight. Text very clean, no notations. A bookplate from the Asher Hinds Library is on the front pastedown, and only other library markings are a hand-written small stickon label on rear pastedown, and two extremeley faint lines on base of spine. Previous owner's name in sepia ink, with address, (Oxford) and dated 1925, along with "Samuel Johnson 1709-1784" at top. DJ condition is like new but with edge tipped in (hopefully with wheat paste) and creases from folding. Extra spine label like new. A terrific copy of a great book, in a wonderful, original state.
