Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card, USA. Henry Walthall, Elmer Clifton, Lillian Gish, dir: D. W. Griffith. Not a single lobby card has ever surfaced from this very important film's original release, and many advanced collectors believe that there were no lobby cards made for that original release of 1915; until such a time (if ever) that a 1915 lobby card is produced, cards from this -- the film's first re-release -- are the earliest known to exist. and they also are very difficult to find. Two different sets of cards were produced for this 1921 release: one on flat paper, and one on a textured, enameled paper -- this card is from that textured set. It portrays a scene right near the film's conclusion as The Little Colonel (Henry B. Walthall) and others reenter the Southern town which they have just "saved" from the Northern carpetbaggers and their allegedly dangerous African American cohorts. In this scene, Elmer Clifton (Phil Stoneman) is also visible on the left, as is Miriam Cooper (Margaret Cameron) on the right. There are a few pinholes, various creases, and one area of paper lifting at blank bottom left, as well as one marginal chip at extreme blank right top, overall appearance is quite pleasing. NEAR VERY GOOD. Bookseller Inventory #
