Churchward was an official in the British consular service in the South Pacific. He presents a narrative of his extensive travels through the South Seas, including visits to Callao, Fiji, Tonga, and elsewhere, with many risky encounters with cannibalistic natives. The account presents several extended passages of directly quoted dialogue between Churchward and his companions. Original gilt pictorial cloth. Spine darkened and slightly worn. Some foxing on preliminary leaves. Very good.
