About this Item

Noted Texas author's third novel, the story of Peter McGill (1850-1883) set in the American Southwest. McGill is a scalp hunter, buffalo shooter, gold seeker, brawler, gambler, and family man who becomes beatified after his death. Shrake's friend and fellow writer Dan Jenkins once said that Blessed McGill was the most perfectly structured novel he had ever read. The book is a stated first edition and so tightly bound that it may not have been read, no hinge problems, no names or other markings except on the front free endpaper which includes a handwritten inscription: "For Jim Bradley With Best Regards, Bud Shrake, Feb. 1968." The bottom edge of the book shows some shelfwear and is slightly rubbed esp near the foot of the spine. Top edge shows same type of wear to a lessor degree. The DJ is not price clipped, and shows slight edgewear particularly at the spine ends with a small chip at the foot of the spine. Still bright, shiny, now protected by a mylar sleeve. Texas residents will need to add 8.25% sales tax to total. Bookseller Inventory # 002700
