About this title

This Legal Suspense Thriller is a Novel of Corporate Greed based on true stories and actual events. Brian Stone refuses to be corrupted and is wrongfully fired on "BLOODY MONDAY" January 26, 2009. Denied Wages, Benefits & Commissions Stone embarks on a 30 month journey across the landscapes of Hartford, Boston, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard & the Cayman islands; against the backdrop of the Great Recession to recover his earnings and to clear his reputation. He discovers his Employer's fraud leads into the very Board Rooms of Industry Giants. He discovers that Corporations, the Legal Profession, the Courts and the US Congress have conspired for decades to undermine American Employment rights. As his investigation threatens the wrongdoers he is pitted against all odds as his life and the lives of others are in danger. This Legal Suspense Thriller, with Political overtones, exposes the Corporate wrongdoing that brought on the Great Recession and threatens the future of America while calling for greater Employee Rights Protections.

From the Author:

At 18 I became a Clerk in an Insurance Agency.  I spent a year working by day in the Agency and taking Insurance courses at nite,& passed  the difficult NYS Agent Licensing exams for Life, Health, Property, Casualty & Marine Insurance at the unheard of Age of 19.  At 21, I joined the largest Claim Adjusting Firm in the world.  By 24, I was promoted to Catastrophe Manager in charge of 125 Adjusters; followed by promotion to Br Mgr in NYS; & then, at 29, Reg Mgr in Hartford, CT responsible for 15 Branch Offices& 135 Staff across 3 States.  I was  their youngest RM ever.  Honesty, integrity & ethics were embraced by the Insurance Industry my early career years.  After 5 years I was offered the position in an Insurance Co in Hartford, CT as their Property Claim Officer & accepted.  To my shock & horror I found the Company mired in fraud & corruption & after 21 months returned to my former Employer as a National Account Executive (1 of only 4) responsible nationwide for their largest Insurance Company accounts while I operated from offices in Boston and New York City.  Several years later I was promoted to National Sales Manager.  I found that fraud & abuse was growing throughout the Insurance Industry, from the street level to the Board Room.  The Company was sold to a Swiss Corp who began dismantling it.  I joined an International firm as a VP of their Southern US Operations based in Atlanta hoping that I would see the Insurance Industry make positive changes.  Instead I found that the Industry had lost its moral compass and ethics & integrity continued to decline.  I became an Executive drop out to avoid the madness and took a General Adjuster position with a firm in NE. I was able to hide away from the fraud for a decade before the lack of ethics I found across America made it to the shores of MA.  By 2005 I found myself mired once again with 30 NE Insurers falling into Bankruptcy & over 1,000 failures Nationwide.  I witnessed conflicts of interest & unethical activity from the US Congress, State legislatures, Insurance Companies, the Legal Profession, Insurance Departments & nearly any entity involved.   'BLOODY MONDAY' ended my insurance career.  I volunteered with no pay as an Insurance Advocate & my efforts contributed to blocking the Insurance Industry from gaining unfair excessive price increases.  I had been writing constantly and published 'A TALE OF TWO RIVERS' (Environmental-2013) & following its modest success decided it was time to write about the decades long moral deterioration.  I was always involved with the Legal Profession throughout my career.  Thus I wrote 'BLOODY MONDAY' as a Legal Suspense Thriller & released it May, 2015 which is the first of a Trilogy based on the journey of the central fictional character Brian Stone. I am now at work on Book 2.
