About this Item

Hodgson, William Hope. THE BOATS OF THE "GLEN CARRIG" AND OTHER NAUTICAL ADVENTURES. San Francisco/Portland: Night Shade, 2003. First Edition. Without dustwrapper as issued. Fine decorative boards (elaborate illustration embossed silver on black artificial leather; back board illustrated with silver portrait of Hodgson). This is a big fat 513 page collection. Includes the title novella supplemented by six tales of the eerie Sargasso Sea, plus a baker's-dozen tales of the British smuggler, Captain Gault; and four other sea tales. Horror, the supernatural, adventure, and flashes of humor are the hallmarks of these tales. Frontis portrait of a young WHH. Introduction by editor Jeremy Lassen. Appendix of notes on the tales. The first edition is long out of print. Reprints value $35 or $40, but this First Edition values much more highly, usually in the $130 to $200 range, occasionally higher. Bookseller Inventory # 1318
