4to. (32 cm.) 72p. Text in Dutch. Profusely illustrated with three full-color full-page signed plates, with 18 smaller full-color illustrations and countless black and white illustrations by Benjamin Rabier. Half-cloth with glazed color pictorial paper image (repeated from an interior plate) on the front cover of a monkey holding up an umbrella and walking on a tightrope and a glazed color pictorial image on the rear cover of a monkey blowing bubbles over a lit candle. Some wear to extremities with the corners just rubbed through, a couple of other rubbed spots around the edges, fingernail sized abrasion on front cover near the leading edge (from price sticker removal?), covers slightly cupped (not unusual on foreign-produced books of this kind). cloth spine intact, interior pages just starting to turn, all illustrations in fine condition, with bright and sharp colors, and with no internal markings. No dust jacket. Date taken from OCLC. Marie Hildebrand [1881-1947] was a Dutch author of children¿s books. Among her many books are the following: Geschiedenis van de haan Kantekleer (1914), De Kleine Kroot in het Droomenland (1922), Niets dan plezier (1925). She collaborated with other authors on several books, including two with Bertha Elisabeth Van Osselen-van Delden. Her books were illustrated by various illustrators, including by Benjamin Rabier who illustrated the book offered here. Benjamin Rabier [1864-1939] was a French illustrator, cartoonist and animator. He illustrated numerous children¿s books written by others, including two written by Marie Hildebrand: Bobo and Piet Wipneus (1908). Bertha Elisabeth van Osselen-van Delden [1847-1936] was the co-author of the book offered here and collaborated with Marie Hildebrand on several other children¿s books. Bookseller Inventory # 008120
