8vo. (23 cm.) [8]3-309[5]p. Forword by Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Lord Tedder, Introduction by Sir Archibald McIndoe. Illustrated with 19 black and white captioned photos, including several of Richard Pape, and 5 black and white maps. Maroon cloth with gilt letters on the spine. Almost no wear to extremities, cloth clean, previous owner's signature, gilt bright, photos and maps in fine condition, else very good to near fine. No dust jacket. Richard Pape was British Royal Air Force Bomber Commander Warrant Officer in World War II. He was shot down after a bombing raid over Berlin and imprisoned by the Nazis in StalagVIIIb. This book tells of his various attempt to escape and his eventual repatriation because of a feigned illness. Bookseller Inventory # 005635
