A FINE copy in a stunning FINE original dustjacket which sports beautiful wraparound cover art of an exploding volcano in the background and a striking rescue of one man by another. Hall Caine was a Victorian (actually from the Isle of Man) novelist and THE BONDMAN is considered (along with The Manxman) as one of the great adventure novels of his era. Published in tandem with the 1929 British Dominion silent film released May 1st of that year. Interesting editorial prologue discussing the film. Contemporary owner's stamp on title, paper a little brittle as usual, ad page featuring three of Edgar Wallace's novels. This is one of those special early English photoplays which features eight inserted plates of dramatic sepia photo stills from the movie. CUT SIGNATURE OF THE AUTHOR LAID IN.
