About this title

Synopsis:

Bulgari is a lavishly illustrated exploration of Italy's greatest jeweler. New photography and archival pictures trace the development of the Bulgari style, a distinctive look that has captivated royalty, movie stars, and others for more than a century. Since its start in Rome in 1884 - and throughout its years of expansion through shops from Los Angeles to New York, from Madrid and Athens to Jeddah and Hong Kong - the Bulgari firm has launched trends and revivals.
In this volume, detailed chapters examine a range of successful innovations such as the easy-to-wear everyday jewels made with precious gems, the powerful modular units combined in repeating patterns, and the recent trademark Bulgari wristwatches.

From the Publisher:

New photography and archival pictures trace the progression of the Bulgari style, a distinctive look that has captivated royalty and movie stars, among other celebrities, for more than a century. Since its start in Rome in 1884--and throughout the years of expansion when shops opened from Los Angeles to New York and Madrid to Hong Kong--the Bulgari firm has launched influential trends and revivals in jewelry design. Bulgari is famous for the mixing of colorful semiprecious stones with diamonds; the mounting of ancient coins in gold jewelry; and the creation of easy-to-wear everyday pieces made with precious gems. These and other Bulgari fashions have sparked countless imitations by other jewelers, imitations that can never rival the polish and flair of the original pieces.

Initially published in 1996 as the first-ever book on Bulgari, this elegant volume delighted Bulgari enthusiasts and those interested in fashion and jewelry design. The need for an updated history of Italy's most renowned jeweler was prompted by newly discovered historical material, recently launched Bulgari collections, and a great demand for the book.

This revised edition, featuring several new chapters, presents the achievements and developments of Bulgari in the past decade, including design trends in jewelry and watches. Here also are new lines of luxury fashion accessories as well as the distinctive architecture and interior design of Bulgari stores and hotels. It is these latest accomplishments, exquisitely portrayed in this new edition, which have made Bulgari one of the most important luxury brands of the new millennium.

Terms of Sale:

BOOKS SHIPPED WITHIN MISSOURI are subject to a 8.450 sales tax. Books shipped outside of the US are subject to a small surcharge.

Shipping Terms:

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ.

Orders to be shipped outside the US can be paid for either a) through ABE, in which case there will be a surcharge of about 5-10% due to the very high postal shipping charges by the U.S. Post Office, and the fact that ABE's fees apply both to the price of the book and the shipping; or, b)you can pay by way of PayPal, in which case there is no surcharge. If you choose to pay via ABE I will inform you of the amount of the surcharge as an 'extra charge,' which you can either accept or cancel the order.

Domestically, you can order the book through ABE, and if possible, pay via PayPal or through ABE.

Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Since recent changes in postal rates, shipping overseas has become very expensive and the cost unpredictable, depending as much on size and shape of a book as weight. The matrix prices are very unreliable. All packages now go Priority Mail (airmail). Contrary to the matrix, there is no 'standard' rate offered by the post office here. In general (there are exceptions)smaller books (octavos) weighing less than 4 pounds, can generally be shipped for $24.75. Larger books, in general, are $61.75 though this price may be a bit higher or lower. Shipping to Canada is considerably less. Please contact me before ordering and I will send you the actual shipping cost. Please do not rely on the matrix. Also, all books now go Air Mail, and the Post Office estimates delivery in 6-10 days. There is no longer any ground service. Insurance (where available) is optional.
