About this Item

Using his "play-novellette" technique now for his third book (following Of Mice and Men and The Moon is Down), Steinbeck creates a short novel that can be played by lifting out the dialogue or a play that can be easily read. Burning Bright is a modern story concerned with basic drives: love, jealousy, friendship, the desire to have a child. There are but four scenes and four characters in the 159 page story. A first edition with the Viking "first published" statement on the copyright page, tightly bound, without names or other markings. The book shows some fading of the spine and rubbing around the extremities caused by lack of a dust jacket. It now has one: a new facsimile jacket that is flawless, bright, clean, and covered with a heavy mylar cover. A less expensive alternative to the pricey first edition in first issue jacket, it is a beautiful copy. Bookseller Inventory # 002351
