This is a bit of an oddity this book - the first title page is dated 1892 and is published by Elkin Mathews and John Lane and a few pages on is another title page dated 1887 with the publishers given as Kegan Paul, Trench, & Co. I assume then it's the 1892 edition. Dark blue hardback binding with a 1 inch liquid mark to top of front board and a few small marks further down. On the spine are faded gilt-coloured titles and the date 1887-92 at foot of spine. Less dulled gilt-coloured titles to front board. There is moderate wear to boards' corners and spine-ends. Page-edges rough-cut and moderately browned. B&W frontispiece inset - by W. Strang. A few B&W line illustrations within text. Occasional small marks to preliminary pages o/w pages clean and tidy.
