About this title:

Synopsis: In 1808, Quaker James Barnes established a community on the eastern divide, between the Ohio and Muskingum River valley watersheds.

Barnesville, Ohio quickly became a center for people of that faith and other settlers from the east and south, and by the midpoint of the nineteenth century, had grown to a community of 800.

For the next century, industry, agriculture, and transportation smiled on Barnesville, but eventually left her behind. Throughout these pages, the citizens of Barnesville have left their mark, both in history and on the heart of their town.

Full Index of Surnames, Families, Businesses, and Events of Barnesville and Surrounding Areas.

Over 450 Historic Photographs of the Village, Businesses, Events, and People.

The book is divided into sections covering Early History, Agriculture, Religion, Education, Industry, Government & Public Services, Downtown & Retail Business, Social History, and Barnesville Notables.
