About this title

With the debut of Errol Flynn’s first American film in 1935, my father suddenly found himself an international film star. Captain Blood was also notable for establishing my grandfather as the world’s pre-eminent “swashbuckler,” a kind of ultimate cinema hero whose combination of charm, daring and male beauty many film lovers believe has never been equaled, even to this day. Also contributing to my father’s enormous popularity as, in the words of fellow actor Stewart Granger, “the greatest star the film industry has ever produced,” was the fact that he convinced audiences that he took as much pleasure in his onscreen adventures as in his wildest off-screen exploits... I, therefore, offer this book to those with an interest in the golden days of early Hollywood and, in particular, to those many long-time fans who tell me of their excitement at discovering his work long after his passing.

About the Author:

Several years after the death of her famous father, the teenaged Rory Flynn was discovered by the modeling world and worked as a high fashion model in New York, London and Paris for nearly a decade. Afterward, she decided to try her talents on the other side of the camera and has since traveled the world as a still photographer for the film industry. Currently she is happily based in the Hollywood Hills, where she lives with her film producer husband, Gideon Amir and their teenaged son Sean, who is carrying on the Flynn name as a successful film and television actor.
