About this Item

Oblong 8vo, illustrated wrappers. 16 unnumbered leaves printed on one side only with captioned cartoons relating to the Muroc Army Air Field in the Mohave desert, later becomming Edwards Air Force Base. The first leaf is titled "1869 Muroc 1945. A Short History of the Battle Field" and is a tongue and cheek description of its founding by a prospector surmised to be a Mongolian Idiot and a lone Indian dweller in a teepee who was of the Hollywood Tribe, a forerunner of the Los Angeles real estate dealers. The cartoons are of life at this desolate air base in the Mohave desert and are captioned Solitude, Wind, Haircuts, Women, Promotions, Charts, Chow, Laundry, Transportation, PX, Unhappy People, Dust, Street Lights and Quarters. A few shallow creases otherwise a good copy. Very scarce. Bookseller Inventory # 11595
