Under the leadership of British officers, the Arab Legion became the crack fighting force of the Middle East. The author was in command of the Bedouin regiment of the Arab Legion from 1953 until he was dismissed, with General Glubb, in 1956. He had an adventurous three years in Jordan: he was the Garrison Commander during the Jerusalem Incident _ a flare-up on the Jordan-Jewish frontier between New and Old Jerusalem which was as violent as it was unexpected. He went into action again for the December riots and became a marked man with a price on his head. When there were no major actions on hand there were a host of minor ones making this a lively account. Bookseller Inventory # C141B374
