first edition -- not stated but has publication date of 1958 and first edition dust jacket; 60 b&w full-page photographs by Lynn Millar and 27 by Will McBride, representing his first published work; bilingual one-page forewords by each photographer; photo captions are in both languages; from the library of the linguist Glenn Gilbert with Gilbert's inscription on the ffep (it was a 'pilon' or 'lagniappe' from the Fulbright Commission in its one-week Berlin 'Bildungsreise' for American Fulbright students in Germany in spring 1959), spine cocked, topedge, foreedge, and endpapers show moderate foxing, top corners rubbed, front top corner bumped and smudged, overall rating Fair to Good; unclipped dj (no price printed) shows considerable shelfwear, edges rubbed, upper top corner has several tears, one ca 2 cm, the other 1 cm, rated Fair+; cloth covers are pea green with dark green lettering on the front and spine; b&w dj with contrasting enlarged photos of Berlin life in the 50s: on the front of the jacket is a major thoroughfare in West Berlin crowded with pedestrians and traffic, maybe Kurfürstendam; in the back is the famous photo of an old lady with a cane and what looks like her young grandaughter; 8vo -- 9 1/4 inches tall X 8 1/2 inches deep, 95 numbered pages. A number of the books are valuable and hard to find, as for example a 1/2-leather-bound first edition of Alfred Russell Wallace's The Malay Archipelago (2 vols.), recently sold for presentation to the Mayor of London on his visit to Malaysia, and a first edition of H. G. Wells' The Time Machine, a novel of the 19th century pointing to a scary future, a continuing revelation to me. Triple G Books stands back of its books in every way.
