Inscribed, signed, and dated by the author on the front endpaper: "For Chief Justice Hennessey / With gratitude for all you are doing to make the Constitution 'come alive' at the grassroots of our beloved Commonwealth-- / Don Robinson / August 1987." Laid in is a signed letter from Robinson to The Honorable Edward Hennessey, Chief Justice, Supreme Judicial Court, Boston, MA, dated August 19, 1987, in which Robinson asks for Hennessey "to support a candid reassessment of the Constitution from a Massachusetts perspective. . . to meet the challenge which Chief Justice Burger has thrown out, at least with respect to the presidency." Hennessey (1919-2007) was Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court from 1976 to 1989. Quarterbound in gray paper-covered boards with a blue cloth, gold-lettered spine. Book is square and unmarked; corners sharp, spine ends bumped. The dust jacket is not price-clipped (original price $22.50); light edgewear at spine ends and corners. Brodart protected.
