Publisher's '1946' date on title page. A very handsome copy hard bound in publisher's original gray cloth covers. 235 numbered pages. Illustrated by photographs. End papers illustrated by map. Book plate on front end paper. Presentation 'To Thelma Collins with personal good wishes from a Cape Cod neighbor (signed) Sydney Clark. On half title page signed "Sydney Clark.' Laid in is a postcard dated AGO 29, 1934 with a picture of the Miramar Yacht Club in Havanah. Also laid in is a written note from Thelma Collins, as follows: "1952. I bought this at a Book Fair & Sydney Clark was autographing copies of his books for buyers. Later, MIss Louise Wood sent Jose de Cabez to visit us & collect the American flag which was taken down when her father (Gen Leonard Wood) was Gov. of Cuba & the U.S gave the island Independence. The huge flag & other momentos were packed away in her cellar. Our men (Harold, Everett & Bill) got the things out for Jose & laid the flag on the front lawn of the Wood house. It was so large, it practically covered the lawn. Signed TC (Thelma Collins." A further inscription on half title page from Jose Cabez: "To Mrs. Thelma Collins with my sincere gratitude for her hospitality in a very great day for Cuba the day of unfurling of the historic flag hoisted over the Palace at Havanah in 20th May 1902, birthdal of Cuban independence. Pocasset, MAss. May 17th, 1952 signed Jose Cabez." Spine ends and corners have a bare hint of rubbing. DJ is complete and has varying medium to heavy wear to spine end areas. Some other edges lightly rubbed. All four inside flaps of DJ clipped. $3. price not effected. Nice copy: solid, tight, clean, complete and with very clean internals. A one of a kind book.
