Joseph F. Hurley is a certified public accountant with over 20 years of experience in providing tax planning services to individuals, businesses, and tax-exempt organizations. As a member of Bonadio & Co. LLP, a 100-person CPA firm in Rochester, New York, Mr. Hurley has overall responsibility for the firm's delivery of tax services to its clients. He is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the International Association of Financial Planners. He is a 1978 graduate of Williams College.
Mr. Hurley became interested in the unique benefits of Section 529 "qualified state tuition programs" in the wake of the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 and since then has written articles and appeared on television to describe their usefulness for college planning. He has appeared in hearings before the IRS in Washington D.C. to provide comments on the proposed regulations issued by the IRS under Code section 529. Mr. Hurley has been recently been contacted by several publications preparing stories about Section 529 Plans and interested in reviewing the book, including Forbes Magazine, The Journal of Financial Planning, and Gannett Newspapers.
