About this Item

First printing stated. No number line in those days. Pierre La Mure was the author of "Moulin Rouge," and "Beyond Desire" is a novel based on the life and Felix and Cecile Mendelssohn. Mendelssohn's life was most interesting, and La Mure captures the essence of his love for his beautiful wife and also for a fiery Italian prima donna. Also his love for music and his great predecessor Bach. La Mure also portrays vividly the Europe of his era, London, Paris and Germany. La Mure himself is most interesting; a successful French writer, World War II forced him to leave France and come to America where he learned English and wrote his first successful novel, "Moulin Rouge," about Toulousse L'Autrec. The binding on this copy is Fine, clean and tight, with a small faded white price sticker affixed to the inside rear board. DJ is whole, unchipped and unclipped save for a bit of minor wear on the top and bottom of the spine. Bookseller Inventory # 101215
