Book Description Rarebooksclub.com, United States, 2012. Paperback. Book Condition: New. 246 x 189 mm. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1913 Excerpt: .REPORT. Winnebago, Wisconsin, July 1, 1912. To The Honorable Mate Board of Control: In compliance with the requirements of the law, I have the honor to submit to you the Fifteenth Biennial Report of the Northern Hospital for the Insane for the period ending June, tO, 1912. The usual statistical tables showing movement of population, nativity, parentage, cause of insanity and age at time of admission of patients are appended. During the biennial period eighteen hundred thirty-one (1881) persons have been under treatment. Of this number eleven hundred twenty-five (1125) were original admissions. This large number reduced the average residence of each patient in the Hospital to a point considerably below that which is necessary to obtain the best results in treatment. The limited capacity of the institution renders it necessary to transfer many patients to county asylums before it has been thoroughly demonstrated that the disease is chronic and that they can not be benefited by further active treatment, and others whose condition renders them unsuitable for county asylum care. The general health of the patients and employees has been good, and the death rate among patients unusually low considering the class received, and the fact that many of them are in a dying condition when admitted. The death rate, based upon the total number of patients treated, was 5.11 per cent for the first year, and 4.05 per cent for the second year, --an average of 4.58 per cent for the two years. There have been a number of cases of contagious diseases introduced among the patients, but only one fatality has resulted therefrom. A man patient contracted diphtheria in September, 1910, and died a month later from Dlphtheretic Paralysis. A number of other patients afterward contracted t. Bookseller Inventory # APC9781232235736
