About this Item

First edition (no statement of edition, which is correct). Hardcover. Introduction by Al Kaline. xvi+ 237 pp. Illustrated with photos and drawings. Fine in near fine dust jacket with very minor wear at the head edge of the spine. American League batting champion and four-time AL hits leader provides this instructional on hitting the big league way. Kuenn was a .303 lifetime hitter, mailnly with the Detroit Tigers and later the San Francisco Giants (with stops in Chicago with the Cubs and Philadelphia with the Phillies). He was part of one of the most famous trades in major league history when the Tigers traded him as the reigning batting champion to the Cleveland Indians for reigning AL home run champ Rocky Colavito. Kuenn would later go on to manage the Milwaukee Brewers who's slugging ways on the way to the 1982 World Series earned them the nickname "Harvey's Wallbangers". Bookseller Inventory # E15502
