In yellow-orange cloth; original pictorial dj has blue and orange text on black spine. Cover boards are clean , with light edge wear. Dust jacket is scuffed with edge wear & small tears but no stains, price intact on flap, in mylar sleeve. Interior is clean and unmarked, except for inscription from author on the front free end paper. To edge of text block has light staining in the from of pin head sized dots, otherwise clean. Binding is solid. This is the author's first book, a novel about "a negro basketball star caught in point-fixing scandals of the early 1950's. " Illustrated throughout in color and B&W. Scarce in any condition, but even more so, with an inscription and signature. ***Neugeboren was Professor and Writer-in-Residence for many years at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he signed this book to his colleague and literature professor Joseph Langland in March, 1970.
